The UK Coaching Certificate has become the de facto standard for coaching in many sports, and is increasing in popularity and up-take across the sporting world.

UKCC is committed to raising the profile of coaches within sport, highlighting the professionalism, dedication and skills of coaches and encouraging them to be the very best that they can be.

With recognised qualifications, UKCC has also been developed to enable coaches to make a career out of their coaching, to use their skills for their own personal career development should they choose to do so. The transferable nature of the UKCC qualification even makes it possible for coaches to transfer their skills from one sport to another.

Many of the skills expected within the UKCC programme are second nature to RDA coaches. There are sections on lesson planning, understanding the structure of a session and how to devise progressive sessions to help riders or drivers achieve their individual goals. In addition, candidates are tutored on motivation, dealing with the unexpected and working as a team. Throughout the sessions, candidates are encouraged to focus on the needs of each individual rider. Of course, in equestrian sports the needs of the horse are expected to be looked after too.

The courses are a combination of classroom and portfolio work with practical lessons and assessment. Candidates benefit from working with coaches in other equestrian disciplines as well as from other sports.
