The 2018 Filmed Vaulting Competition is now open!

No access to a vaulting horse or pony? No problem! Vaulters can still take part, and be judged equally on their skills, using a vaulting barrel or mechanical horse! It’s an exciting chance for all RDA Vaulters, either as individuals or in pairs, from registered RDA Vaulting Groups, to really have fun and show off their skills. Vaulting is perhaps best defined as gymnastics on horseback and is one of the 7 disciplines currently recognised by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI). Competitive Vaulting is a youth sport, however at the Novice and Recreational levels it has much to offer to all ages and abilities.

The team of six Vaulters, along with a reserve member, work with one horse under the control of a lunger. The horse is in itself a powerful motivator and the inclusion of Vaulting within RDA activities has opened yet another channel for our riders to develop and build a wide range of skills – which can be transferable throughout all areas of their lives; including learning to work as part of a team to achieve a goal, helping to boost their self-confidence and build on their interpersonal skills.

The physical benefits too can be profound,  such as helping with general fitness, balance, motor skills, flexibility, co-ordination and core strength.  This has not gone unnoticed by key members of the Health & Education Sectors, who continue to welcome and support this exciting and increasingly popular RDA activity

It is a hugely rewarding activity. Groups who have taken up the challenge and who offer Vaulting to their riders will all give testament to the fun and sense of achievement that it brings, along with the huge benefits it offers to all those taking part.
