International

RDA has a continued commitment to organisations overseas that offer therapeutic riding activities for people with disabilities. Every year RDA sends qualified instructors overseas to help set-up and improve their riding activities. Recently we have been involved with projects in Ethiopia, Bosnia, Kenya, Russia, Malaysia and Romania.

RDA is also a member of the FRDI.

If you would like to find our more about our international activities you should contact our International Liaison Officer.

FRDI

The Federation Riding for the Disabled International (FRDI) was founded in 1980 to form worldwide links between countries and centers offering therapeutic riding and carriage driving and to assist in the development of programs in new areas of the world.

The FRDI is actively involved in establishing international standards of safety and competency in instruction and in encouraging high standards of protection and training of horses for therapeutic purposes. The organisation liaises with the relevant bodies for the promotion of equestrian sport for riders with disabilities.

RDA together with the ACPTR and The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy make up the Full Members of FRDI in the UK. There are also approximately 20 Associate members of FRDI in the UK. Together we meet 3 times a year to discuss current issues and learn from good practice.
