Publicity Opportunity for all RDA Groups

RDA National Office is pleased to announce that it is now able to offer all Groups the opportunity of publicity by featuring them on the RDA National web site.

Currently, those visiting the RDA web site are given only very basic information relating to the location of RDA Groups. With a little help from Groups themselves, this information can be enhanced to reveal the true extent of the wide range of activities and opportunities they offer. The effects of this will be felt throughout RDA: potential volunteers, participants and supporters will be able to make a more informed choice of which Group will meet their requirements; Groups will receive fewer enquiries and requests that they cannot meet; the profiles of individual Groups and RDA as a whole will be raised.

We do hope that all Groups will take up this offer – the value of the project to the whole of RDA will increase as new entries are published. The following notes and example are intended to assist in composing a suitable statement to convey the Group’s activities, facilities and ethos. If further help is required, please contact Jan Abrahams (contact details below) who is co-ordinating the project for National Office.

Please note that the contributions will be edited if they exceed the maximum number of words allowed (200) and to meet their current editorial policies. If extensive editing is required, the Group concerned will be consulted before publication. Your Group’s phone number and email will already be displayed on screen, so please don’t include any contact information in your submission.

Please include:

• Name of Group

• Region

• Location

Suggestions for inclusion:

• riding days/sessions;

• disciplines focussed on;

• participant disabilities catered for;

• special equipment and/or facilities available;

• ethos of the group.

Sample Statement – from a Fictitious Group

Peppermint RDA Group, Marton Harket, Mid Region

Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, Peppermint RDA is a friendly, welcoming group offering riding and carriage driving. We operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays for most of the year. We have six ponies: Jet, Toby, Bailey, Crumble, Bramble and Flash. Our ponies are perfect for riders up to about 9st in weight. Carriage Driving is a great activity if riding isn’t an option, and our drivers love to get out into the beautiful Cotswold countryside.

We welcome riders and drivers with a wide range of disabilities, and have a hoist if mounting is a problem. Whether you want to ride or drive for therapy, fun or for a new challenge, why not see if we can help.

We are run entirely by volunteers, and we’re always looking for new helpers for a wide range of operational and managerial tasks. If you think you would be an asset to our friendly team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
